US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that there are “fewer than 200 al-Qaeda militants left in Afghanistan today”. He was speaking at an Atlantic Council event.

Pompeo claimed that peace talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban in Qatar are related to the security of Americans.

The intra-Afghan talks come after the US signed a peace deal with the Taliban in February.
