A total of 33,186 people who tested positive for the new coronavirus have died in the UK, 494 new deaths were recorded, the health ministry said on Wednesday.

The UK has officially recorded the most coronavirus-related deaths in Europe, a toll second only to the United States.

Coronavirus cases in the UK has risen to 229,705 after 3,242 more people tested positive. A total of 2,094,209 tests have been conducted in the UK so far.
