The Chinese doctor Li Wenliang who warned the public of a coronavirus outbreak in December 2019 has died of coronavirus in Wuhan, foreign media reports.
“We profoundly regret and mourn this death,” the Wuhan City central hospital said in a brief statement on its official social media account.
Li,34, was questioned by the local health authority, and was later summoned by Wuhan police to sign a reprimand letter in which he was accused of “spreading disinformation online.”
He was hospitalized on January 12. On February 1 he was confirmed to have the coronavirus.
