France reports 70 new COVID-19 cases in schools

France has reported 70 new cases of the COVID-19 in schools after they reopened last week for the first time since a national lockdown was imposed in the country.

In an interview with RTL radio, France’s Education minister Jean-Michel Blanquer confirmed that several schools had been forced to close their doors since 11 May in Mayenne, Cantal, Haute-Garonne and Nice.
These closures “show that we are strict,” said Blanquer, who added that these cases “occured almost every time outside of school.”
