World No. 1 Novak Djokovic has revealed that he got an offer to become a British citizen.
“I was doing really well in the junior international tournaments so tennis agents spotted me…it was a very tempting offer…[but] I didn’t want to do it…I didn’t want to go…where I didn’t know anybody,” said the Serbian.
Djokovic said that he wanted to remain with his family, friends, country and the language rather than moving to an all-new place as a complete stranger and start everything from scratch.
“Personally, I didn’t want to do it because I didn’t want to go to England where I didn’t know anybody. I wanted to stay where I had my friends, my life, my language, and my country,” he said.
