Tropical Storm Isaias moves up coast of Florida

At 11 p.m. Eastern time, the center of the storm was about 50 miles off the Central Florida coast, near Cape Canaveral, and was moving north-northwest at about nine miles an hour, according to the National Hurricane Center.

State authorities have opened shelters and closed beaches and parks. Florida is one of the US states worst hit by the coronavirus pandemic.

Health officials said there had been 7,104 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total to more than 487,000.
