The UK government has announced diners will get a 50% discount off their restaurant bill during August.
“Meals eaten at any participating business, Monday to Wednesday will be 50% off, up to a maximum discount of £10 ($12.50) per head for everyone, including children,” the chancellor Rishi Sunak said.
“Businesses will need to register, and can do so through a simple website, open next Monday.
He also said VAT on hospitality and tourism would drop to 5%.
As Sunak announced the discount, the chancellor said the UK was facing a “unique moment” because of Covid-19.
“We need to be creative,” he added.
