The death toll from confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK rose by 173 to 42,461, health officials said.

The Department of Health said that 169,600 tests were carried out or dispatched, with 1,346 positive results.

Overall, a total of 7,433,114 tests had been carried out and 301,815 cases have been confirmed positive.
