The Prime Minister today announced there had been 36,793 fatalities across the UK, with 259,559 infections overall as an additional 2,409 cases were recorded.
The UK COVID-19 death toll today rose by 118 in the lowest rise of any day since lockdown began.
Speaking at the Downing Street press conference today, Boris Johnson said each death was a “tragedy”.
He said: “We are beating this thing but we will beat it all the faster if we keep alert.”
Mr Johnson confirmed he is preparing to loosen the lockdown further on June.
