The number of people in the UK who have died after being confirmed to have COVID-19 has risen to 42,927, from 42,647 the day before, health officials said.
The UK death toll from coronavirus has risen by 171. The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) said 42,927 people had died in hospitals, care homes and the wider community after testing positive for the disease in the UK.
In the 24-hour period 327,142 tests were carried out or dispatched, with 874 positive results. Overall, a total of 8,309,939 tests have been carried out in the UK and 306,210 cases have been confirmed positive.
PM Boris Johnson announced that the virus had been controlled to the degree that lockdown measures could ease from July 4.
