Another 763 people have died in UK hospitals after contracting coronavirus, taking the death toll to 18,100, the Department of Health (DoH) said.
It comes as a further 665 people, who tested positive for the coronavirus (Covid-19) were confirmed to have died, Scotland reported 77 deaths, while 15 were recorded in Wales. Northern Ireland has not yet released its new death toll.
The latest figures were released after it emerged as many as 41,000 people may have already died from coronavirus in the UK, according to new analysis of official figures.
The estimate from Financial Times (FT) includes deaths outside of hospitals, and is more than double the figure of 17,337 released by the DoH yesterday.
