UN climate change summit postponed to 2021

The COP 26 UN climate change summit set to take place in Glasgow, in November has been postponed to 2021 because of the coronavirus pandemic, the British government said on Wednesday.

In a statement issued Wednesday, the UK government said new dates for the conference would be “set out in due course” following talks.

The decision was made by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, Britain and Italy, which had been due to host some preparatory events.

Some 30,000 people, including 200 world leaders, had been due to attend the 10-day conference for crucial talks to halt rising global temperatures.
