Armenians set own homes on fire before handing village over to Azerbaijan

Armenians set their own houses on fire before ahead of a handover of the territory to Azerbaijan.

It follows six weeks of fighting between ethnic Armenian forces and Azeri troops over the enclave of Nagorno-Karabakh and its surrounding areas.

Some residents of Armenia visited the area on Saturday to see it, possibly for the last time, and witness the village’s burning.

It is internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan but has been controlled by ethnic Armenians since a war in the 1990s.
