The Azerbaijani parliament declared a state of war in some cities and regions following clashes with Armenia in the Nagorno-Karabakh region.
“Armenia has again proven that it is the biggest obstacle to peace and stability in the region,” said Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry in an earlier statement.
Baku has the right of self-defense to protect its people and territory, it added.
Relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia have been tense since 1991. Countries blame each other for escalating the situation and opening fire.
