Global COVID-19 death toll tops 1 million

The global death toll from the coronavirus pandemic passed 1 million on Monday night, according to a tally by the Johns Hopkins University.

The United States has the highest death toll with over 200,000 fatalities, followed by Brazil, India, Mexico and the United Kingdom.

Anthony S. Fauci, the United States’ leading infectious-disease expert, said Monday that Florida’s move to reopen all bars and restaurants was “very concerning.”
